On Reading Gulliver’s Travels
Today,
Sunday seven o’clock night i have read this book for the first time. From the
cover this book show that in this book any connecting with a liliput. At the
first time when i buy this book, i was think that this book tells about the
giant and normally human, but when i was read this book from the first page
this book was showing that this book tells about liliput and normally man.
At the first time, this book not so
diffrent with another book with this kind that at the first chapter tells about
introduction, and in this book tells that any man who came from London, his
name is Gulliver, when he graduate from his studies he worked under surgeon in
London. In this book the author can’t explain more about the background of this
character, but the author want explain to the purpose that this character will
do travel, at twenty years old this man left the for the sea but when he after
three and a half years he comeback and married his wife who name is Mrs. Mary
Burton. Althoug this man has been being married but this man always want to do
travel to greatest voyages.
And that voyages is happen, he goes
with twelve crew to this trip, he and another crew goes to the East Indies, but
at the trip the strom struck the ship,
and all people in that ship is died except Gulliver. Gulliver still a live and
he swam to the beach, until he arrived at the beach he very tired and he lie on
the grass and he was slept at that night, when Gulliver wake up he didn’t moving
his body, at the first time he don’t know why hie didn’t move, but after a
while he realize that many creature with the high not until six inches but this
creature is like human, Gulliver looks this creature when he felt something moving
on his leg, they come foward over his breast and almot to his chin. This
creature was shocked with Gulliver’s loud roar, because many this creature in
Gulliver’s body many of creature fall down and they is hurted because their
falls. And one of them speak so loud “Hekinah Degul” and Gulliver cant
understand their language. But Gulliver realize that words is somthing to war,
because after that words they shoting Gulliver with arrow, many arrow come to left
hand of Gulliver and Gulliver see many arrow in the air, but Gulliver not
hurted with that arrow until that arrow is stopped.
One of them say to Gulliver but
Gulliver still can’t understand what they say, but Gulliver say that he hungry
and with put the finger to Gulliver mouth and the Creature understand what
Gulliver want, and they give Gulliver meat and bread until Gullivers mouth is
full from this food, after that Gulliver want to drink, and they also give a
water for drink until three a pint of drink. After Gulliver drinking the water
Gulliver feel want to sleep, and when he was slept this creature take Gulliver
to other place, that place is place the creature life. Gulliver take with the
carriage. When he arrived in place of this creature, Gulliver was realize that
he feel sleepy because the drink that he drunk and in that drinking give
something for make people feel sleepy, Gulliver know that he sleep maybe eight
hour.
Gulliver come in their temple which
normal place for normal people, but Gulliver still chained and Gulliver can’t
go to everywhere. Chapter one just until this story, and in second chapter this
story can be more give the pleasure, but when i read first chapter i found some
word that new for me and i don’t know what the meaning of that words, but i’ll
understand with the next sentence, the words that new for me is : Navigation,
Settle down, Voyages, Antelope, Violent, Splitting, Ventured, Shrill, Fortune,
Capable, Starved, Appetite, Drowsy.
At
the chapter two this book tells about prosess Gulliver learn their language.
Gulliver learn this language with teach from six of the their Majesty greatest
teacher and Gulliver can learn fast their language until he can do short
convertation. Gulliver sleep in ground until the emperor finished the bed for
Gulliver that made from a hundred and fifty of their beds sewn together be one
bed. Gulliver also get a dress from this creature that called Liliput. In this
chapter liliput want Gulliver to show the weapon that Gulliver have, Gulliver
have a gun and he showing what can the gun work, and when Gulliver showing the
gun work with firing to the air Liliput looked pale.
In last story from second Chapter
tells about the agreement between Gulliver and Liliput, the agreement is about
Gulliver freedom, and this agreement is if they are can make Gulliver free
Gulliver can do what they want, and the Liliput have nine requisite, and the
first requisite is dont leave the country without permission, second is he
shall not come into their city without their spesific order, third is he dont walk
or lie down in a meadow or field of corn, fourth he don’t step on the bodies
any of their loving subject like thaeir horse or carriage, and from the fifth
until the ninth there something like must against the enemiest, time to rest,
job for carry the message from his pocket and something agreement that he must
to deal for his freedom. This agreement is happen and Gulliver free from the
chains that chained her leg. And in this chapter i found again new words, that
are : Circumference, Meadow.
Maybe
just until this for now i explain about this book which i like because i
interest from the cover and from the simple word, and so that i choose this
book for my assigment in extensive reading, and i’ll continue my reporting what
i read in next time.
Today, 22nd february, i
continue to read this book, in chapter three tells about gulliver who help
Liliput City in war against the rival city that is Blesfuscu, after one week of
gulliver freedom, Gulliver attack the place which called Blesfuscu, in this
teks i found teks that i can’t understand, that teks is “ the war had begun
over the issue of egg” from this teks i think the war is because from the
amazing egg, but when i continue to read the teks i’m not found the teks that
any connecting with the amazing egg. The war is begin, Gulliver is swam from
the beach until he touch the grooound again. The enemy was supprised with
Gulliver because Gulliver is so big, than the enemies shoting Gulliver with
arrow, maybe a thousands of arrow hit Gulliver, luckly, Gulliver use eye glass
so that the arrow can’t touch Gullivers eyes. After the arrow was stopped,
Gulliver take the ship of enemy to the ground or the beach, the enemies was
scaried and they are jump from the ship. So that Lliput City is won in war. In
the end of this chapter tells that Blesfuscu want to peace with Liliput City,
and Liliput City Agree.
In the chapter four, first i read
the theme of this chapter, and the theme is plan Gulliver to escape to
Blesfuscu. I read in this chapter that Gulliver was nine mounth and thirteen
days stay at Liliput City, Gulliver tells about the man who screeted the
identity that he tell to Gulliver has an enemy that name is Skyres Bolgolam
have a plan about crime tp Gulliver, and Skyresh Bolgolam have a thousand of
supporters. From the screet man Gulliver know about the crime from the copy of
articles that made with Skresh. There theree articles, firs article tells about
the change of empire be province. Second article tells about plan of Quinbus
Flesterin to take the highest place in kindom. And the third article is tells
about tha Quinbus is ready to go to Blesfuscu. But the point from that articles
is Quinbus is ready to war with two thousand supporters in Blesfuscu. Gulliver
also prepare and go to Blesfuscu at the morning with a half swam. And when
Gulliver arrived at Blesfuscu, Gulliver very happy because the king was ready
to meet him.
In
the chapter five, is tell that Gulliver was three days in Blesfuscu. Gulliver
is walk around in Blesfuscu and he saw the ship that really normal ship,
Gulliver remember that is his ship, than Glliver meet the king for helping of
king to service the ship for Gulliver back to home. The king is helping
Gulliver than Gulliver is get food,drink, gold, cow and bulls from the king for
Gullivers trip back home. And Gulliver is arrived at home in april 1702,
Gulliver at home just two month, and Gulliver want to a voyage again.
I stopped reading for today until
this chapter.
Today, 23th february, i
continue to read, an this book comeback to chapter one but in second part.
Gulliver do a voyages at 22nd of june 1702, with the name of captain
is Captain John Nicholas. When the ship come in the forest the captain want to
rest, and Gulliver walk around in the forest but nothing special, the trip is
continue, Captain drive the ship very fast, Gulliver climb to the top of ship
for see around. Gulliver was supprised with the grass which very tall, the tree
corn which very tall, and Gulliver see the huge man came arround, Gulliveris
escape and run as fast as he can, but in the center of the field of corn he
meet with a Giant man, and Gulliver is take to the master of this giant. When
Gulliver arrived at home the master, Gulliver see a giant all of he can see,
Gulliver see his wife, doughter, and old woman, they are is huge. They are
gathered to lunch with many huge food, after luch gulliver is placed in bed tha
very big also, when Gulliver sleep he awoke because any animal huge that huge
also, Gulliver defence him with his knife, until the misstress came to help Gulliver.
In chapter two i really anxious to
read the next story. After i read the continue of this story i know that is
tells about the doughter of misstress, his doughter is very well to Gulliver,
and the doughter given Gulliver name, the name is Gilgrid thats meant is
mennequin, and Gulliver given that child name is Glumdalclitch that meant is
little nurse. The misstress have an idea to showing Gulliver to take a money,
and that show is happen as long as two mount until the misstress want to show
in the place near with the kindom, Gulliver was very tired. And the queen
called that misstress for do show in the kingdom, and after the show the queen
want to buy Gulliver, and Gulliver is sold. Gulliver say to queen he want to
Glumdalclitch to stay with Gulliver, and the queen agree with Gulliver.
In chapter three tells about lfe
Gulliver and Glumdalclitch in kingdom. In kingdom Gulliver given the clotch
with style like many people in kingdom, Gulliver also given the room from the
king tha create special for Gulliver. King and Queen is very well, Queen always
want to dinner with Gulliver, until one night when they dinner, Gulliver
throwed by Queen to the bowl ice cream, and Glumdalclicth rescue Gulliver, The
Queen really repentance about that happen. Tommorow after that Glumdalclicth
take the box which is place Gulliver to out of bedroom for take fresh air and
eat some cake, but when Gulliver ate the cake, Gulliver attacked by wasps and
Gulliver can kill four wasps with his knife.
When i read chapter four, in this
chapter just tell about the box which place Gulliver is take the monkey and
make Gulliver like a doll that must eat many food, until many pople watch that
and laughing and the monkey ran and make Gulliver free, but Gulliver was sick
because that happen, and need two weeks until he health again.
I’m read this book just until this
for today, because now i really sleepy.
I continue to read this book in
today, 23th february at nine o’clock. In this chapter or chapter fife, the story very
intereseting because in this chapter the story is make heart racing, and in
this chapter tells about King and Queen from the kingdom of giant want to go to
division on the country, Gulliver and Glumdalclitch also go with the King and
Queen, when on the trip little nurse look ill, so little nurse rest in her
room, Gulliver also sleep in his box in little nurse sleep, the air in that
room is warm because the window of the bedroom is opened, when Gulliver awoke,
Gulliver can’t see anything from his window, he just see the sky and cloud,
Gulliver was realize that he was take by an eagle, and the eagle liberated on
the sea, the water is start to come in the box, Gulliver use handkerchief for
stopped the water, when Gulliver feel fate, Gulliver heard sound of ship come
to he, and the people in that ship helping Gulliver take gulliver to his home.
When Gullliver arrived at home his wife and his child think that brain
Gullivers was distrube, and his wife want Gulliver to promise can’t do voyage
again. And Gulliver is two years in the giant country.
In this book any four part, and now
i want to tell about this book in chapter one in part three. In this part i
foun many word that i can’t understand, but i still read this book until i know
the story, in this chapter tells about plan Gulliver to do the voyage again,
and the most hard in this plan is an agreement of his wife. Gulliver invite to
do voyage by Captain William Robinson, until a few days the Voyage is happen. Continue
to chapter two, the story start from Gulliver and his friend sleep in cave
until the Voyage is continue. The voyage arrived in the City or County that
name is Laputa, from this country nothing really diffrent with Gulliver
country, but the diffrent is from their clothes, thei clothes any picture star,
moon, sun, and comet. In the end from this chapter tells that they are is
observer the space, and Gulliver realize that they are not life relax, because
they always afraid about the sun that come closer, abot the comet will
crush the earth and many more.
Than in the chapter three, just
tells aboout the island that flying, and just touch the ground if magnet in
vertical position, and the king can’t go beyond from her borders of his land.
This place called Lagado.
Next, i read this book many sentence
that i can’t understand, but i get the point from this chapter that is tells
about when Gulliver walk around in Lagado with Lord Munodi that he is the King
of Lagado, in the trip Gulliver saw many home very small and the people looks
unhappiness, but Lord Munodi invite Gulliver to another part in that country,
and in this place the home is very good and many people looks very happy. And
few a days after that trip Lord Munodi want to make all of his country well.
In the chapter five, the point of
this story is abot the trip that continue to Maldonada, but in Maldonada its
not ship for continue the trip, so Gulliver visited to the place taht name of
that place is Glubbdubdrib, here nothing special but that people have a special
skills and the special skills is sorcery.
In
this chapter, chapter six or the last chapter in thirdh part, is the longest
story in this chapter. In the point of this chapter is planning Gulliver that
want go to Japan but thats many story that i can’t understand because maybe now
when i read this book i feel sleepy, but i can get a few the point from this
chapter, that is when Gulliver want to go to Maldonada but Gulliver visited the
island that called Luggnagg. In this country for who one is considered a
powerful enemy of the court, the floor is often sprinkled with dust on purpose.
The next point that i get is the pople in this country have a long age, ussualy
they are live until two hundred year. And ind sixteenth day of may, 1709,
Gulliver leave this country. And Gulliver continue the trip from Nangasac on
ninth june 1709, with the dutch sailors and use the ship that name is Amboyna.
He go to Amsterdam before to England. Gulliver arrived on tenth april 1710 in
England.
I
stopped to read this book for now because i really sleepy, and if i continue to
read, very hard to me to understand what the story in this book. So i’ll
continue to read this book tommorow.
Today,
Monday 25th february at 5.30 clock i continue to read this book, i
start radeing this book from chapter one part four. This chapter tells about
the voyage of Gulliver to the country that name is Houyhnms, after Gulliver
arrived at home Gulliver do the voyage again. Gulliver do the voyage after fife
mounth at home. In this voyage Gulliver be a captain for himself. Gulliver went
on the ninth day of september 1710. When on the way Gulliver attackted by
pirates and Gulliver out from his ship. Gulliver swam and arrived in unknow
island. Gulliver feel hungry, and he saw some animal, but that animal is not
normall like another animal that ever Gulliver see. Gulliver try to close with
that animals, but that animals is not one but many, and attacked Gulliver,
Gulliver defence himself with his knife and that animal go away. Than Gulliver
walk around and meet with a grey horse, and so amazing this horse can
communicate with Gulliver, and this horse be Gullivers friend.
In
chapter two tells about the travel with grey horse go to some hous, in that
house any three nags and two mares. Gulliver can’t meet with the human that
have that home, but the horse call Gulliver to following the horse to another
room in that home, and Gulliver meet with the animal that attacked him when he
first arrived in this island. This home is made from Wood.
In
this chapter tells about Gulliver who learn about their languange. The master,
wife and his family teach Gulliver language very well, but the aster feel
something diffrent with their body because Gulliver used clothes and because
that Gulliver pulled of the cloothes for described that they are is same but
diffrent in colour and hairy, and Gulliver explain why he used clothes,
Gulliver used clothes because clothes is for defence from the wather. Gulliver
want the master to helping him to made the ship for Gulliver back. At the end
in this chapter is the master want to know the story about Gulliver from and
Gulliver life, and this described by Gulliver in chapter fourth, and mauch
diffrent think between Gulliver and people in this island, and the explaining
the Gulliver make the master realize that many mistake in his island.
In
this chapter tells about the leader in this island that gathered to speak about
how to make this island better, and the way to make this island better is must throw
away the horse from this island becaus horse is dirty and vicious, but Gulliver
disagree with this way, and Gulliver say the horse is can be good if we can
make they good. And from of all Gulliver back to home with ship that made by
command the master. The master really happy can meet Gulliver and he feel sad
must loss Gulliver.
In
the end of this story in this book ai tells abou the voyage home, in this
voyage Gulliver meet with the ship like pirates and they shout Gulliver with
arrow and the left knee of Gulliver is shouted, the ship Gulliver crash the
stone and Gulliver is take by the man in the ship like pirates, when in the
ship that man is very well to Gulliver and the captain give Gulliver food and
drink. In the ship the captain asked about Gulliver journey, until Gulliver
arrived in captain home. And for a few days Gulliver stayed at captain home
until he come back at home, his wife and family very happy Gulliver come
healthy. And in the end of this paragraph tells that the first money that
Gulliver made was laid to buy two young horse, and Gulliver speak with horses
at least four hours every day.
Maybe
until this my journal about reading the books that title is Gullivers Travel’s.
